Aleksandra Kanjuo Mrčela is Professor of Sociology of Work and Economic Sociology at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences. From 1999-2001 she was a Visiting Research Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Sciences. Since 2004 she has been a member of the European Commission's expert networks in the field of gender equality. She was Vice-Dean at the Faculty of Social Sciences (2007-2011). In 2015, she became the Head of the PhD School at the University of Ljubljana and since 2021 she has been the Head of the Centre for Organisation and Human Resources Research at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Ljubljana. She has researched and published in Slovenia and abroad on the economic situation of women and work-life balance. She is co-founder of the Institute for Economic Democracy and Chair of its Expert Committee.
