We're pleased to invite you to our series of free expert wokrshops on business succession and employee ownership.

Are you considering selling your company? Would you like to introduce employee reward schemes and strengthen employee engagement and loyalty? As part of the ESOP Tour, we will visit cities across Slovenia and meet entrepreneurs looking for ways to build strategic partnerships with their employees.

In 2026, Slovenia introduced a new ESOP law— the Employee Ownership Cooperative Act (ZLZD) — which enables company owners to sell shares to employees on tax-advantaged terms and allows employees to participate in profit distributions through an ESOP scheme.

At the events, we will present:

  • how the new legislation, the Employee Ownership Cooperative Act (ZLZD), can support business owners in selling their companies;
  • what is the difference between the ESOP model and employee profit-sharing schemes;
  • where are the advantages and how the potential pitfalls of employee financial participation, based on international best practices;
  • how the ESOP works and how the Employee Ownership Cooperative Act (Slovenian: ZLZD) creates concrete tax benefits and new business opportunities.

Employee ownership contributes to business success, strengthens stability, and fosters a shared sense of responsibility across the workforce. It is also an effective tool for increasing employee engagement and motivation, while embedding a commitment to the local community into the company’s ownership structure.

The events are aimed primarily at entrepreneurs, business owners and managers who:
  • are considering a full or partial sale of their company and are looking for the most suitable buyers;
  • care about the long-term well-being of their company, employees, local environment and community;
  • are exploring more tax-efficient ways to reward employees; and
  • want to improve workforce stability and strengthen competitiveness.

The new Employee Ownership Cooperative Act—the ESOP Act—can support you in improving your company’s working environment. Employees and anyone else interested in the topic are also warmly invited to attend.

The speaker at the event will be Tilen Božič, an expert with many years of experience in economics, taxation, public finance and alternative ownership models. As an associate of the IED, he played an active role in developing the European version of the ESOP model and was a member of the MSP working group, which brought together experts from various fields to help prepare the Employee Ownership Cooperative Act.
