Title: Employee Ownership: the path to economic democracy
Where: Faculty of Social Sciences, Ljubljana, Lecture Room 2
What if we told you that companies can become fairer, more successful and more resilient - when employees become co-owners and involved in decision-making? Economic democracy is not just a vision for the future, but a concrete path that businesses are already successfully taking today.
The Institute for Economic Democracy is organising a public event on Thursday 24 April 2025 at 14.30 at the Faculty of Social Sciences (Lecture Room 2). 'Employee Ownership: the road to economic democracy'. You will learn about the basic concepts of economic democracy, the socio-economic benefits of employee involvement in business ownership and the ESOP model, which is becoming increasingly relevant in Slovenia.
Why attend
Economic democracy is becoming more and more present both in Slovenia and internationally. Businesses are looking for ways to involve employees in ownership and decision-making processes - not only as a means to greater fairness, but also as a path to a more resilient and prosperous economy. In Slovenia, a Workers' Ownership Cooperative Act is being drafted to facilitate the transition of companies to models based on democratic governance and co-ownership. As a leading organisation in this field, the Institute for Economic Democracy opens a space for reflection, questions and concrete insights into the future of work and business.
We warmly invite you to join us!

The event is part of the activities of the Erasmus+ project "Shaping the Future of Work: Youth Democratic Workplaces for Social Change" (SWAYED), funded by the European Union.
